I try to answer all guestbook entries but do not
add names to email roster unless requested to do so. Also after three failed
attempts to deliver mail for whatever reason, I remove name from
email roster. I will add or delete name when asked.
There is not much mail today but I do want to
get the news about Jack Castiglione out to all as soon as
possible.
I also had a phone call from Robert Dodds who
is very much interested in seeking information about his dad, Robert T. Dodds
who was in "H" Co. Can anyone help?
Ben

Dear Ben:
Jack Castiglione (I Co. and S-2 Section) made it through
his esophagus operation at the Wilmington Delaware VA Hospital. He will have a
rough recuperation and Rehab session of several weeks, but Betty believes (as we
all do) that Jack is up to it. The operation was a tricky one. The first hurdle
is to make it out of the operation room and Jack did that. Your prayers and good
wishes will be appreciated by Jack and his supportive family. Howard Hensleigh

Ben,
I need help from the men of the 517th. As some of you know I am a Vice
Principal of a high school. I am
also retired from the Army and served in
Hawaii with
the 25th Division in the 1980’s. On Monday and Tuesday of this coming week
I will be giving the history classes here at school a presentation about the
attack on Pearl
Harbor. I want the kids to
remember about Pearl
Harbor. Let me say how grateful I was last year
to Mr. Alicki’s response to my request and his
account of the attack because he was there. The students were very impressed that I
had first hand information about the attack from Mr. Alicki. If Mr. Alicki
can provide me with information again, I would be deeply grateful. Also please any comments from the other
troopers, friends or family members would be greatly appreciated. I will tell the students what you think
or say. Thank you so much for your
support.
