I just prepared a DVD movie of an
interview with my father and mother that I did in 1997. (PFC Robert L. Crawford, A Company). I
notified you that dad passed away July 10,
2004. In the 1 ½ hour interview dad mentions
an French orphan boy of about 13 years that befriended A company and traveled through
most France with them. He said
that he was invaluable as an interpreter. Dad held a great deal
of affection for the young man and spoke of him several times as I was growing
up. He mentioned him during the interview but I never got his name. I was curious if any one remembered him
or what happened to him?
Just a note to all who read
this….take the time and sit down with a video camera this weekend and tell your
life story from birth, and of relatives, where you lived, why and how you fell
in love, why you went into the military, that the $50 in extra pay was what made
you crazy enough to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, where you trained,
where you traveled, where you fought, Why we fought, what happened out there,
where you were when you learned it was over, what happened from then until now.
Who your brothers and sisters are, who your parents were, who your children are,
and most of all …What you want to tell future generations! We were so fortunate that we did this in
1997. I was able to give this to
the whole family as a Christmas present on our first Christmas without
Dad. His great Grandchildren and their
children will know him and get a message from Robert and Jean Crawford.

Ben-
I appreciate your willingness to share information and would be
honored to be added to your roster (my home address is flavecarpenter@hotmail.com ).
I will be visiting more with dad to reconstruct his memories so that more can
have the opportunity to better understand the sacrifices that enable us to enjoy
the freedoms we have today. Look forward to hearing more from you
soon.
Sincerely,
Flave Jr.

Not too sure about Kissimmee.
Andrew has trouble making long car trips (about 9 hours driving). If we
make the trip would probably not attend all the attractions scheduled. My
daughter lives an hour away so would probably just do the day visiting at the
reunion and return to daughter's at night. Will just have to wait and
see.
Andrew has congestive heart failure and any exertion leaves
him very tired.
