Use the form above to search for documents in this web containing specific words or combinations of words. The text search engine will display a weighted list of matching documents, with better matches shown first. Each list item is a link to a matching document; if the document has a title it will be shown, otherwise only the document's file name is displayed. A brief explanation of the query language is available, along with examples.

Note:  Many of the older documents (e.g. the 1944 Christmas Roster), are posted as pictures (jpg or gif format), or as PDF files.  These contain only "images" and are not searchable text.  Therefore, names and text strings in those documents will not show up in this search.

Ben,   Trenton Kenokida, in his mail-call, states that Gene Mars
(Chop Chop) WAS his grandfather, past tense.  Ben, you replied , "Chop
Chop IS a member of the 517, present tense.
Did Trenton imply that Chop Chop has passed away? We all know that
his wife, Jane passed away a few years ago, a shock to us all.
What a wonderful couple. I met them at our first reunion in 1984, on our
trip overseas and on many reunions after that.
I do have a story about Chop Chop that I will share with Trenton on a
future e-mail.
Any information about Chop Chop will be greatly appreciated.

Ben I use tedcrawford@comcast.net now.  I would consider a visit to a reunion and I believe I could haul my Uncle Alfred Lamb from F Company to one of them. He is now 80 and his wife (Dad’s sister) is ill, so it might be tough.  He and dad enlisted together and fought through France and into the Bulge. He was wounded in the chest but survived during the Bulge. He was shipped back home to recover.   I still need to get you his history.  (He tells a story that as 19 year-olds that ringing a church bell with a well placed shot from nearly a mile away was possible)

 Regards,

Ted Crawford

Hi Ben,

We will not make Florida this year to see you all in Georgia.

At the startup we knew your web site would be great for the 517th Association but had no idea how important it would be for our future.

I am sorry to be one of the procrastinators, but Peanie and I decided we are going to gamble on health and age to not be a  hindrance for attending the great reunion in Savannah Ga..
A problem: I tried to find the Thunderbolt or printed Ben517 email for details of the 'which activity' and 'how much' to send to you.  Please tell me where to find the info and I'll quickly follow up with a check and activities in which we will participate.  Sorry to put extra work on you dedicated volunteers.
