| I apologize if I implied that my grandpa had passed away, my mistake. He is alive and well, living in the same home in San Jose CA. All of these messages are great and either myself or my Uncle will pass them on. Thanks Trenton Claire Giblin Ben and Bob Christie - Dad (Allan Johnson 596) and I will be in Kissimmee for the
reunion.  We have our flights, our car, our hotel, and Dad swears to
me that he'll put a check in the mail tomorrow to Bob.  Can't wait to
see all my favorite vets! Claire Johnson Giblin Tom Cross Ben:     Would you please publish Dan Mars
e-mail and telephone number so we can contact him and so pass on
information to Gene.     I agree with all concerned that we
should try and bring Gene back into our 517th Family. I too had heard that
he had passed away and grieved for both Gene and Jane who were so close to
all of us who knew them well and loved them both.     We must not let Gene
willingly retreat from our ranks without a major effort to get his
attendance at the Savannah Reunion. The time is already here when our
thinning ranks will make attendance at future Reunions a more difficult
task for some of us. The spirit that has kept us together these past years
must be maintained and Gene could be a big factor in reviving this spirit
so we can continue our comradeship that we have maintained since
1943.     Those of us that remained in the Army
after the 517th was deactivated in February of 1946 can honestly
say that we never again served in an Airborne unit or any unit
for that matter that meant so much to us as did our serving with our
departed and still present  comrades 517th comrades.
We must have Gene return to our fold.
At the moment it might be imprudent but workable if the West Coast Reunion
Gang could devise a plan to lure Gene to Savannah and insure his presence,
even with kidnapping in mind if that is what it takes. Let's all take a
hand in this caper if we can. I feel Jane would approve of our effort as
will Dan.     If our "Chop Chop" receives this
message, in any form, he should consider it a wake-up call from a group of
determined friends who  need him as much as he may need
      us. Tom Cross

REST OF THE MEN, ESPECIALLY FRITZ COFFMAN, THE ONLY MAN IN UNITED STATES
MILITARY HISTORY TO BE ASSIGNED TWO SERIAL NUMBERS DURING THE SAME TOUR OF

Jim Royer Ben,  Thanks for the reprint.  I was able to read
it. June and I became special friends with Jane And Chop Chop. We spent wonderful times with them at our reunions and exchanged Christmas greetings until Jane's death. Then it all stopped. Let's all keep in touch with Gene. Maybe our expressions of love for him, will bring him around, and let's keep him in our prayers. Jim Royer, Hq. 3rd.
