Hello Ben,  I am very interested in the message from "Chop Chop's" son.
The message is dark blue and fuzzy and I am not able to read it.  I was
told about a  year ago by his daughter that he would not answer the
telephone, and I was so hopeful he was better by now.
Can you please re-write the main part of the letter so I will know what
is going on  with him. He was  such a special friend of "Monks".  I have
wonderful memories of visits with he and Jane.              Thank you
for the information.  I have been very concerned about him.

Ben,

I would like to add my two-cents-worth in welcoming you back.  Please let Bob know that he did a fantastic job in your absence.

On another note...I watch each Mail Call entry to see if anyone mentions my uncle Floyd STOTT.  I picked up a curious bit when a fellow (Hughes) wrote to see if anyone remembered his grandfather, a Mr. Powless, who was a member of "I" Company.  This Mr. Hughes lives just down the road from Green Bay in Onieda.  I emailed him about Floyd so maybe we'll be able to exchange some addresses and information.  This site has been a blessing for many.

God Bless You!

Hello, Ben...My father is Lyle Darnall   from Portland, Oregon. He was a radioman/ forward observer with the 460th pfab, battery a ( also called able battery) He turned 80 on dec. 18 and is in good health. He received a bronze star and a purple heart.....The battery a Christmas list does not say who was officers or enlisted. I would like to try and find out who "the red headed officer " was that my father was with when he received his bronze star. He also received his purple heart in the huertgen forest about February 5th. I see that Leo Turco was in the battery.....maybe he might have some idea......I realize that all of this took place a long time ago....My father is just now starting to talk the war somewhat.
A photo of my father in 2001 with his suspenders and a bull he harvested that year in very rough steep country
