Ben:
A while back I had a story in the local newspaper. A few days later I
received a request from a 13 year old boy who requested my autograph. He
said he was very interested in World War II history and was collecting
autographs from veterans. I sent him an autographed copy of my book and a
very nice friendship developed. I visited his home and found his room
filled with WW II memorabilia; much of it Airborne material. He has DVDs
of Saving Private Ryan and Band Of Brothers. I gave him books to read
about the 517th and he has finished all of them. He said paratroopers were
his favorite military men and now it appears the 517th is his favorite military
unit.
I have given him my old Thunderbolt copies which he has arranged in a bound
folder for easy reading. Bob Christie should probably include him on the
mailing list.
It would be great if some of the fellows from the outfit would drop him a
note telling him a little about themselves or some military experience which he
could add to his collection. It would be a very pleasant and enjoyable
surprise for him.
His favorite question to me is "Tell me some more of your feelings when the
green light comes on."
His address is Rudy Hayer

I can come up Monday for a couple hours. Is
there a banquet or anything scheduled for that day, that I might need to pay
for? If not,I am just coming to see the Polks or anyone else that might
have served or know my dad from D Company.

Dear Elaine, Thanks for thinking of us. Your OWLS was great fun. I will
forward to some of my close friends. Now, Garnet fell in the night on 19 Dec
and broke her right femur in several places. She is now home , having been
repaired, and is recovering nicely. uses a walker and can bear some weight on
the injured leg. c'est la vie !. A/BBL, Bob and Garnet .

Hello Ted Crawford,
My father in law, the late Ed Marconi was in
Company A as well. Would
you be familiar with his name by any
chance?

Pat Seitz
Dear Bob, Ben and Howard:
Alan and I were hoping we might be able talk Dad into
coming to the Snowbird reunion (the weather in Kansas is very cold right now),
but he is aiming for the August reunion and hoping Ginny's health will permit
her to come also. Unfortunately with my trial schedule and
a commitment to attend a firm function for Alan's law firm, we
will not be to get up to the Florida reunion. We wish we had a "beam me
up, Scottie, button," but if they exist it is not part of the government's issue
for judges. Please give our best to all 517 attendees and families.
Happy New Year. Pat Seitz and Alan
Greer
PS Bob Christie is not only a wonderful host for the reunion, but so very
thoughtful generally. He sent us three issues of the Thunderbolt
including the one featuring Dad.
