Hello,

We now have the complete agenda for the West Coast Reunion on the Website.  The reunion dates are April 10 thru April 16. I hope to be there.

While at the Kissimmee reunion, Bill Webb gave me a letter from Michael Mullins, a paratrooper serving in Afghanistan,  seeking information about his father Bernard Wayne Mullins   Hq. Co. 3rd Bn.  We have had the same request in previous Mail Call .Can anyone help him? I am also interested in finding any information Burton Stadler Hq. Co. 2nd Bn..

Anyone interested in the 517PRCTcan be placed on my E-mail roster or be taken off it, but you must let me know your intentions.

Ben

Tom Reber

Hi Ben,

I thought of all of the gang often this past week.  I wish things had worked out for me.  I plan on a better outcome for Savannah.

JB is a character, isn't he?  I owe him quite a few Mail Calls (I print them and deliver them periodically).  I enjoy keeping him in touch and visiting with him.

It sure is wonderful to see all of the 517th children coming full circle and re-discovering their father's experiences and history.  Better late than never.  I remember being amazed at the number of books written about the outfit after finding the website, then seeing my Dad's name in one of them.  Reed Terrell's daughter is getting the same feeling right now.  I am guessing she found out about all of these things after having contacted you from the website.  You must feel a great deal of satisfaction for making these things happen.

Reed Terrell was a very good buddy of my dad and they kept in very close contact after the war.  I know my Dad missed him a great deal after his untimely passing.  I will be sending photos of Reed Terrell to his daughter, this weekend.

I am happy the reunion was so successful and I am glad your trip was safe.

Best regards,

Tom

Ben

Glad you made it home safely.  I enjoyed closing the hospitably room with you and Jack Collins one night.  You and your other son Bob really do a great service to keep us together. Enjoyed meeting your son Jeff and his friend Olin.  They seemed to enjoy themselves.

Wow, what a wonderful job Bob and Mildred Christie did at the Mini.  And they never ran out of the delicious cookies.  I had cookies for breakfast every morning.  I'm guessing that we had about 80 people attend.  I am sure Bob will give us a breakdown on the attendance.  The 2nd Battalion gets the trophy (where is it)? again for the largest contingent at 17 wonderful people.  Our 2nd Bn. table out by the pool is getting to small for all of us.  This was the first Reunion for Lou Scaringi and his sweet wife and they had a ball.  He doesn't plan on missing any more.  I would be amiss if I didn't mention Claire Giblin for the great job she did on the French trip.  I hope she is in the selling business as she sure sold me.  Now if the leaders of France would be half as nice as the people she met it would be a better world.

Howard did a good job presenting the need for an auxiliary of wife's, children, widows and friends to keep the 517 going.  Now girls someone has to step forward and form a temporary board or committee and get ready for the August Reunion.

Again thanks to all the hard workers that helped to make the Mini so successful once again.

Darrell Genera ( Darrell's last name is actually Engner.  Perhaps he is still carousing with Jack Collins.-Ben )

58 years ago one battle began. This battle would became one of the most important one of the whole American History and would be world known as THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. At 5:30 am the Germans attacked Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Belgium; it was the last Hitler gamble.
And you were over there ! And thanks to you Hitler lost his last gamble ! And you are still alive ! And I have more friends !
So that this day could be in the same time a sad one but also a pleasant one because it is either the commemoration of a bad period to you or of the beginning of the end for the Nazism.
I guess you are proud of you today. May I tell you that you are right. I'm also proud.... proud to be your friend.
Thanks once more, my American Veteran Friend.

Good Morning Ben:  I would like to send a message to Tom Reber via your mail call. In Mail call #838 he states that JB is quite a character. I have a message for Tom and he can pass it on to JB. God only made one JB and then he threw the pattern away. I am sure when Tom gets in contact with JB and tells him a brother from Pa . said that about him, he will know who said it. By the way Ben, are you putting any money on the PATRIOTS? I am referring to the football game next Sunday Ben. Best Regards to you all RAY R. HESS    F CO.
