Dear Ben:
Would you please convey to with
Lou Walsh Jr. the sorrow and sympathy the next generation of the Dick Seitz clan
experienced upon hearing the very sad news of his sister Gail's untimely
passing. From Dad and Uncle John Lissner we heard many wonderful stories
about Lou's Dad. Dad also had a tremendous regard for Gail and her
devotion to and many contributions to maintaining the spirit of the
517th. Having heard so much about her, it was a privilege for Rick
and me to have met Gail at the memorial and later funeral Mass for
Uncle John. She was fabulous and so welcoming.
I hope Lou Jr. knows he has a
great collection of 517th members, children and friends who have him and Gail's
families in our thoughts and prayers. May the Good Lord envelop them in
His Love and shower them with warm and wonderful memories to help counter their
sorrow.
Sincerely,
Pat Seitz, Alan Greer, Rick Seitz, Victoria Seitz,
Joel & Cache Seitz Steinberg, & Nancy Crane

Hello Linda Estrella,
You mentioned your
father in law was Co A 517. My father in law, Ed
Marconi
(deceased & from Brooklyn NY) was also company A. He fought in
Italy, jumped into France and was wounded after the Bulge on Feb 8th
1945. Would you have any information of remembrance of his name.
I
seek, for family history, any piece of remembrance, good, not
so good
or the other...
Ed is loved and missed.

Jim Mortensen
Hi Ben
I spent a long time on the phone today
with J.G. Ward and his wife,
Mary. Lt. Weller, JG and I formed a potent
forward observer group. We
talked about the fact that 60 years ago on
February 7, we came back up
from the river at Bergstein. I went back to the
OP in the basement of a
ruined house, looked a across the field to the south
and saw the Germans
retreating by the thousands. I fired more 75MM ammo that
day than any
other day in the war, by far. And then we were relieved that
afternoon,
and off we went to hot showers and a hot meal (whatever that
was), and
then the hospital in San Quentin.
Anyway, JG is undergoing
chemo and radiation. He has another 10 days or
so to go. Then he'll have the
a big scan and, hopefully, a conclusion
that suggests he is free of any
further cancer. If that is the case, we
will both be at the big reunion in
Savannah. Please help me pull him
through.
Oh, where do we send the
money to help pay for a few guests?
Best
Jim Mortensen

Hi
Ben:
I have a question about
the Medical reports that are listed in Clark Archer’s letter to Tom Cross.
Where are these medical records kept? I once heard Fort Sam Houston??????
Or is it at the St.
Louis Record Center.
Hope all is going well
with you. It sounds like you should be going to the Palm
Springs reunion.
Everyone sure wants you there!!!!! I hope you can make
it.
Thanks
Ben.

Ben, There was an article in the last Thunderbolt about That movie
"Objective Burma"
General Dick Seitz
Ben, I highly agree with Gene Frice, Gene Brissey, Merle and others
who
have suggested that we invite our 517th French and Belgium friends
to
our 15 August reunion. Also, as suggested that we provide funds to
help
their visit. These friends have always gone out of their way to help
any
and all 517th people visiting France and the Trois points area. I
would
suggest the following be invited. (these names have already
been
mentioned by others) Mr and Mrs Arnold Tarqnion, Belgium,
Marie
Gaspar,Belgium, Arime S. Leocard, France ,Jean Michel Soldi
and Eric
Renoux , La Muy. With continued great admiration,
Airborne all the
way. Dick
