Subject: Mail Call NO. 85
Hello,
I am trying to limit Mail Call to four or five printed pages and thus the
schedule for sending it out.
Found  a way to make corrections on the roster without too much trouble. Now
got to find a way to stop making mistakes in the corrections Will try to
bring it up to date monthly. A few spacing problems --Cecil Doty, Jesse Darden
and Nolan Powell and left out the th In Les Perkins address. Correct address
is   Perk517th@aol.com
New member. Gary Poole Hq .460

Comments: Guess it's time to sign on, especially since I find no other G Co.
members registered. I remember Bill Pencak, as the 3rd. Bn. was forming at
Fort Benning, he was training the future machine gunners. (I was one.) He had
us dry firing and working them bolts 'til "we sweat blood"! Any other Combat
Team members still jumping? I am a member of the Relatively North Skydiving
Club and the United States Parachute Association. I jump on a regular basis,
every weekend from Apr. to Nov. Rest of year as weather (clear skies)
permits. 1388 free falls, make 80-125 jumps per year. Going for 2000 and that
diamond on my Gold (1000) free fall wings. See you in Bismark, ND.

Behind on reading my email.  My address is srdd@earthlink.net
.   The letters
are the first letters in my family's name. (Sarah, Ruth, Diane, Dave).   I
had to switch it around when I went with earthlink because some one already
had ddrs. Sorry for all the confusion.    Still enjoy getting the emails. I
live in Arkansas, so I make copies of the emails and mail them to my father,
Robert Pitts, in Alabama. Thank You, Diane

Ben;
My father, Ssgt Joe Cornett, "I" Co. was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in
Oct. 1996.
Can you tell me the procedure to get him listed on the web page for receiving
this award.
I can't tell you how much this web site means to me. Dad never said much
about his experience in Europe during the war, and thanks to you guys I'm
learning what he, and the rest of you heroes went through.
Thanks Again;
Bill Cornett
He is on the list now.

Thanks for keeping the roster updated.  I just don't have the patience to
update it everytime someone decides to change their e-mail address.  I always
wait until you do it and then just copy the whole thing into the address
book.  I appreciate you doing all the tedious work for me.

We had trouble with AOL mail.......sending, receiving, reading, etc.......all
day today.  I was ready to cuss a few times but decided not to.  I figured if
I did, the Easter Bunny wouldn't come see me and it's almost time for his
visit.

I enjoyed the rest of the 1959 sayings.  They bring back a lot of memories.

Thank you, Ben. I was not with the 460th for Christmas of 1944 so am
not on that list in the book. I was in a station hospital in Rome for
Christmas of 94 and when I got out the doctors wanted me where I could
be "observed" so I was attached to an ammunition renovation company. We
reconditioned artillery ammo using Italian labor - mostly former
soldiers from the Italian army. Using your former enemies to handle
explosives can also "be hazardous to your health", but, I always felt
like a "drop out" for not being able to "go all the way" with my unit. I
made a lot of friends in that ammo company but never felt the same about
them as I did about those I went through basic, jump school, and the
first exposure to combat with.
Thank you for your efforts to keep everyone in touch.
Regards,
Gary

Gary come to the Bismarck reunion and meet your old friends.

Hi Ben and Fran
You got me right on the roster. Of course remember I just hang around to see
what's happening. If it gets to be to much you can delete me but I will cry
because I like to read the Mail Call.
Love to all
Florence Mehegan

Florence is a good friend of the 517th.Will never make her cry.

Ben, Evidently you have our e-mail right because we are getting the Mail
Call.  But you have the address for us all in caps, I thought they
needed to be in lower case.  If it is working with caps that is OK with
us.  Thanks, See you in Bismarck.  Lou

Upper or lower case should not make any difference. I should make them all the
same but I know if I try to do that, I'll make more typing mistakes.
