Comments: I am the great nephew of Harold C. Daniels, who is buried in Henri-Chapelle. My Grandma talks of you a lot. Wish I could've known you. Thank you so much for your sacrifice. Love always. John Ecklund and Family (grandson of of his sister Delores)

Harold  Daniels was in medical Co. I did not know him. John must be referring to the 517th PRCT.--Ben

Delores is his younger sister, and my grandma.  She was about 9 or 10 years old when he was sent to Europe and I think that he was about 22.

My grandma talks of Harold often so I thought I would try to find out some information about him.  She has a lot of pictures of him and of other soldiers - though I'm not sure who they are.  She also has a whole company picture.

Dad,

I received the following request looking for info about the Dragoon After Action Reports.  If you remember, I received some of them, but we were asked not to post them yet.  I don't remember why.
I looked through the few that I have, and there is only one short mention of running into a group of the 551st, but not what this guy is looking for.  I thought I'd pass it on to you, in case anyone has the other AA reports.  I suspect that they contain only the 517th info.

Bob

Subject: Question Regarding the After Action Report you have posted for Operation Dragoon

Sirs,
I am very interested in the After Action Report for Operation Dragoon. Do you know if it only contains information on the 517th? or does it include the 551st? If so, is there a way to get a copy of the original report from you? I'll be happy to pay copy costs and postage. Please let me know. I am researching the 551st and am trying to find what information I can. I will be interviewing a surviving veteran of the 551st this coming weekend.

Sincerely,
Andy Peitsch

I have responded to Andy Peitsch Andyp@ameritech.net  and told him about the many references in Paratroopers' Odyssey about the 551. Others that wish to do so can also send him info about the 551 Bn.-Ben
