To: John M. Davis and the family of Olen A. Hughes
My deepest regrets to the family and Brothers-in-Arms of Olen A.
Hughes. I was fortunate enough to visit with John M. Davis on the
phone and he was so gracious to sit Olen down and they recorded an account of
the battle for Manhay, 27Dec1944. Olen had so many positive things to say
about my uncle, Floyd A. Stott. I will cherish that audio tape
forever. May Olen's soul and that of all departed 517th Battling
Buzzards Rest In Peace!

Ben, I am wondering when we will be receiving a complete schedule
and
prices for the activities planned for our reunion in August. We
would
like to start making our plans and selection of activities. Time
is
fleeting. It's later than you think.
A check will be in
the mail soon to help our guest from Belgium
attend our reunion. May I
add two names to the list for your
consideration: Eddy Monfort and Jean
Francois Dahin, both from Manhay.
I have been exchanging e-mails with Eddy,
but Jean does not have e-mail.
He is Eddy's mailman .
Keep the ball
rolling, Ben. We'll see you soon.\

Ben, for JMDavis...I am very sorry to hear of your recent
loss. It is comments such as yours re: the 517th, that remind me from time to
time of what, and why we did the things you comment upon, and selfishly I agree, as well or better than any other regiment. You are in my prayers. Randolph
