Hello Ben,

Just a note to tell you that Oscar (Berg) , my husband had an angioplasty on Wednesday, March 23rd, where they put a stent in his carotid artery.  He is doing fine and expects to have another procedure done in a month to six weeks.  He had this procedure done at the Swedish Hospital in Seattle.

He enjoys reading mail call so very much.  He feels badly that we will miss the Savannah Reunion.

Thanks for all you do to keep us in touch with people in the 517th.

Thanks for your prayer and thoughts and for notifying Reeves.  We have a glimmer of hope from the lung doctor today who said Andrews lung did not deteriorate any further and his lab work for the lungs showed a slight improvement.  If this is true, we are very glad but know that we have a long road of recovery ahead which we will gladly travel down with him........

Andrew is still holding his own this morning.  The lung specialist gave us a small glimmer of hope yesterday so we are trying not to be overly optimistic because prognosis is still not good.  However, we continue to pray and hope.

Dot

Though I have not personally met either Andrew or Dot, please pass on my prayers for both of them.  Reading all the mail calls and some of the books I realize what extraordinary magnificent and perfectly ordinary each of your lives have been.  This is such a hard time for them to balance his wishes and their needs.  I will pray Andrew gets the peace he deserves and feels the love that surrounds him.

Thank you, Susan Clark

Ben,
To all who have expressed an interest in our honored guests attendance at Savannah, GA.

I recently was called by our distinguished President Howard Heinsleigh.  It was Howard's recommendation to formally identify our friends as "Honored Guest." It sounds most appropriate.

As we have observed in recent publications of "Mail Call;" a number of our guests have been recommended to attend the forthcoming gathering in Savannah. All of those individuals have for years fought to keep the memory of the W.W.II combatants in the minds of those in their country. It has further been recommended that we should, in some fashion, endeavor to financially support their travel. There is no provision in our association charter to expend 517th funds to accomplish the above. It has been recommended that individual contributions from members would accomplish that task. Bob Christie has initiated a means to gather the necessary funds, Due to his efforts we are well on the way to accomplish the necessary funding.

Some of those named have been previous visitors to our meetings. I am not aware of financial support (if any) that may have assisted them in their travel. If such was the case, other individuals should likely be chosen.

Howard has tasked (that means volunteered) several individuals to assist Bob, and previous President Merle McMorrow, for the work beyond the funding. Those individuals will be myself and Lud Gibbons. We will be at the Palm Springs, 10-15 April, gathering and will resolve the guests attendance at that time.

We will gather the data forwarded by our members and make the choice(s). We would appreciate our members continue to provided their recommendations, if they have not previously done so. We must have current addresses
. Your "choice" committee will ensure that all of our foreign dignitaries at least receive formal notification of the meeting in August.

Any other thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. See you all in Palm Springs and Savannah.
