Thank you to Howard Hensleigh for giving me more
information about that p-38 bomb. Do either Howard
Hensleigh or Fred Beyer remember any details about
Marvin Moles on that day the P-38 bomb wounded him?
Did you guys know each other back then? Do you
remember any other stories involving Marvin Moles,
particularly in Southern France.
As some of you might know, Marvin came to visit me
in october after I found his helmet in southern
France, so any stories involving him interest me a
lot.

Thank you for clearing this subject up, I, am also glad that there were no short rounds, From what I remember the forts were never taken, the krauts just left one night.

Hi Ben.. Ray Hess is surely right about Rideout being killed on hill 1098. Also Cpl Arredond, also  of F. Co, was killed  just NW of hill 1098 above the road to Pierra Cava. Alton Shaneyfelt was not killed in the area of 1098. He was killed within hours after the drop on the first day . He was  a real good guy from Alabama. All were good men!       Randolph Coleman  F. I am looking for info on my Uncle C.R. Bankhead. He was wounded on Jun 18, 1944 in Italy. His brothers and sisters cannot remember all the details but seem to think he had parachuted onto a mountain and was shot by a sniper. The Americans were at the bottom and the Germans were at the top. It paralyzed him from the waist down. He lived until 1963. I am going to Italy on May 28 and wanted to see if I could find the place where he was wounded/or in battle. I told my mother I would try to find it. Can anyone help me? He was from Lattimore near Shelby, North Carolina. Thanks. Nancy simpson

The 517 did not parachute into Italy. Pfc C.R. Bankhead was wounded in the first day of combat for the 517. Casualty Report had him listed as MIA. Can anyone give any more information? She leaves for Italy May 28.-Ben
