Mr. Barrett,

I had sent pictures to you last week that you could not open.  I sent them to others who had the same problem, so I’m sending them in a different format.  In the picture Jim and Friend, Jim Sutcliffe is on the right,In the Picture Sutcliffe and friends Jim Sutcliffe is second from right.  I’ve also attached a Christmas Card, I guess everyone was given a card to sign and send home.

 Again Thanks so much

Thanks

Jay

Photos will soon be on website-Ben

Comments: My dad was in the 517th. His name was Sgt William (Bill or Willy) E. Wilhoit. He was inducted at Ft. Benjamin Harrison Ind. Mar 3 43. I have a small blue card with the heading of "BATTLING BUZZARDS" of the 517th Parachute Combat Team. It states that he served in the European Theater from 5/44 to 3/45 Co. "A". Anyone remember him? He was wounded in Bergstein Germany 2/8/45. He was from Rochester, IN. He passed away in Mar.'90. Would love to hear from you. Please contact me at sjwilhoit@insightbb.com. Thank You, Jeff Wilhoit Lafayette, Indiana

Ben,
Yes, please add me to the Mail Call. I have sent three emails since I signed and one hit from the grandson of Wayne Eby. I will be sending him some pictures that I have of Wayne. He was wounded the same day Dad was. I am particularly interested in hearing from Gene "Zoot" Snyder who seems to be active in the unit.
Thank you so much for doing this as there are a lot of blanks in Dad's WWII history. I have lots of pictures and names. Dad was good about making notes.

Comments: Really great to read about the unit that my uncle, Willis A. Woodcock, was in during WWII and the events that led to his death in Sept/44 at the age of 19.

Hello Howard and Ben,

I saw in the Static Line some names of the 517th that had paid their dues, so I sent them invitations to the Reunion.  I was wondering if either of you knew a Carl Schoening that was in 3rd HQ.  I sent him an invitation and his wife wrote back that he passed away on March 2, 2005.  He had wanted to come to the Reunion to see if any of his buddies would be attending.  When I hear back from you, I will write up a little note that his wife sent to me and put it in Mail Call.

Helen
