Hi Ben
Roland and Patricia Orengo are my guests from Sospel, France. I am
entertaining them at my home in
Ontario, NY and my Lodge on Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondack Mountains
of New York during
August 9 - 14. On August 15 we are flying to Savannah, GA. I registered
them for the Reunion and at the Hotel. They have contacted Helen and paid her
for the tours they wish to take while at the Reunion. I paid for their
registration and air flight from Rochester to Savannah for which
I expect no repayment.
I expect they will pay for their Hotel stay while they are in Savannah.
I question whether the 517th should do anything further for them beyond the
hospitality which I am sure they will enjoy. They are bringing a message from the
Mayor of Sospel, and they are very interested in what the 517th did for Sospel
during
World War II.

PS Ben I am leaving today for a two and one-half month hibernation in
the Adirondacks. I have been
reading the E Mails in the Archives and I shall catch up when I return. I
shall see you at the Reunion.
Thanks a million for all you are doing.

On American liberty today...
"As Americans gather
this weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July, we can take pride in our country's
great history, and look to the future with confidence. America remains a shining
example to the world of all that free people can achieve. And our goal as a
nation is to make sure that all Americans can share in the promise of our
country. ... This Fourth of July weekend, as Americans celebrate our freedom,
our thoughts are also with the men and women who defend that freedom as members
of the United States military. Our nation honors their sacrifice. And one of our
greatest sources of pride on this Fourth of July is that men and women like them
wear the uniform of our country. ... We fight today because terrorists want to
attack our country and kill our citizens, and Iraq is where they are making
their stand. So we will fight them there, we will fight them across the world,
and we will stay in the fight until the fight is won. ... I thank all of our
servicemen and women for standing post. I wish all Americans a happy
Independence Day." --President George W. Bush

Hi Ben,
Absolutely, you can put in the poem. Rick
and I talked a lot about going, but evidently it's not going to work out for
him. I am hesitant to attend by myself, although I would love to meet all
of you.
