Ben - please run this notice every day if you don't mind.  I want to make sure that everyone sees it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION---

For those of you that are flying into Savannah for the Reunion, the shuttle service at Savannah International Airport (Low Country Adventures/Gray Line) strongly suggests that you call their 800 number and make reservations to be taken to the DeSoto Hilton.  By having reservations, you can be assured that you will be on the shuttle bus for that particular flight.  Without reservations, you have to wait for the people with reservations to be seated, and then you will be taken care of with the seats available.

The 800 number is 1 (800) 845-5582, then follow the options for Reservations.  When calling for reservations, have your Flight information ready and a credit card to hold your reservations.  This information was not given to me until now, so I hope that you will call for your reservations ASAP.  The shuttle bus desk is in the North Baggage Claim area.

There is also taxi service

One other thing............that tropical storm lurking out in the Atlantic will NOT be in the Savannah area.......I promise.

 Dear Ben:
You are so kind to send us a note asking about our trip with Dad to the 517th battlefields.  It was beyond awesome.  It was an experience of a lifetime and a true a gift from heaven for Alan and me.  We cannot begin to do justice to the outstanding efforts expended by Ami in the south of France and Irma and Arnold in Belgium.  What memories we have of such warm and heartfelt welcomes.  They are such beautiful, generous, caring, and dedicated people.  And the way they demonstrated their gratitude and keep the memories of the 517th's heroic efforts enshrined and known is inspiring.
It was as if each of the men of the 517th were with us as Dad recounted stories of the 517th men and their sacrifices as we walked the battlefields and toured the museums and memorials.  And to see the overwhelming gratitude for the 517th that the French and Belgian folks we met had was mind boggling.  These were young people during the war as well as children and grandchildren of resistance fighters.
You have to have Dad tell you about the restaurant owners we met in Col de Bras, and his standing on the stage with the mayor of La Motte belting out the French national anthem on Bastille Day, and our solemn walk through Mon Fosse and the ceremony at the little church up from there.  Alan and I could not comprehend how the men of the 517th accomplished what they did after seeing the terrain!
We so wish that we could be with everyone in person at the reunion -- what a turnout you are having. May the reunion be blessed in every way.
Please give our love and eternal gratitude to all the men of the 517th and their families.  What outstanding heroes we are blessed with.  God bless you all, and God bless America.

Note to Eddy Monfort:

Happy 35th Birthday from all of us. Congratulations on the publication of your book. We look forward to seeing you at the next reunion. The time and place will be fixed at Savannah. Meanwhile, hold the fort in our favorite spots in Belgium. Howard Hensleigh
