Subject: MAIL CALL NO. 969 517TH PRCT-AUGUST 27, 2005
Hello,

I would like to get as many members and friends of the 517 to sign up for Mail Call. Mail Call is our best chance to keep the 517 active in the future. Most families have access to a computer today and if you are not active on a computer it should be no problem. Every one must have children, grandchildren or a friend who could get the mail for them Try to contact members and get them to sign up. I found members at the Savannah reunion who were computer  wise but did not know about the Website or Mail Call.

I have more mail, but have to clear up some issues. I will try to post them in the next Mail Call

Ben&Gene:
My mom just recently moved here to South Carolina and uncovered these photos, letters books an alike. Here are a few. The first is of I believe after studying your Co E photo in Joigny France, Higgenbothem, Kiss and Franko. The second are some officers and I believe Dave Hines taken in Niece France. Hines was spoken about a lot by my dad and a friend who was KIA. He did have a returned party deceased letter from when he was in the hospital. In the letter he asks Dave Hines to have Brami forward his mail because it hasn't been catching up w/him. The third is my dad place unknown w/unknown trooper. Please post these pictures on the site if you like as someone may know or be able to identify themselves or a loved one.

Dear Ben,

Yes, I did fail to report the UT troopers.  I must have been in a hurry to get back to the fun in Savannah.  I was doing it quickly and the PC I did it on has since received a "Viking Funeral". My hard drive locked up, so I finally got a new laptop.  Not to fear, though, the roster is safe.

I still feel that more cudos are due for the Beddows.  A fantabulous effort with even greater results.  Also, many thanks to Rick Vasquez for the shirts and other items he so graciously provided.  I wear it with pride.

It was really great to see everyone that was able to make Savannah.

Regards,

Tom Reber

Hi Ben

From what I have read on mail call you all had a great reunion, sorry that I have not been able to any.

I have a question about what a star above the parachute wings indicate, perhaps you can tell me I seen someone a while back wearing them.

Your time and effort putting the 517th. mail call is greatly
appreciated by myself and I know all of the other old jumpers, thank you.
