Has anyone been in touch with Bob and Deana Reeves? If hurricane Rita
keeps on the same tract, I think they will probably be in harm's way. They
live in Lake Charles, LA and this storm is going near Port Arthur, TX.
They will be on the worst side of the storm. Let's hope for the best for
them.............

Ben, I tried to call Fred Brown. I presume they may have gone to a safer
place to ride out hurricane Rita. We should pray for his and Verda's safety
until we know that they are alright.Do you know of any other troopers in the
path of Rita ?

Bob:
The Airborne Invasion of Southern France should
print. I previously ran a copy to make some future changes in spelling and
format.
Reference Lee Lacey's and Mike Kane's comments in
Mail Call No. 983 517th PRCT-September 18, 2005:
I will be extremely interested in Lee Lacey's
photos of Co.E at Camp Toccoa and elsewhere. When I was the C.O. of Co. E at Camp
Toccoa I started taking photos of the training as did C.B Jones. When I left Co.
E to move up to the 2nd Bn. as Dick Seitz's Executive Officer, I turned the
project over to someone else. I never saw the results of that project and do not
remember who I left it with unless it was my replacement. The other information
Lee Lacey mentioned would be of historical interest to the Army Heritage and
Education at Carlisle Barracks. Pa as well as the 517th PRCT.
Am glad that Mile Kane came forward with hi
information about the Army Heritage and Education Center and the fact that he
lives within 10 miles of that location. I asked Wayne Cross today to
contact Howard Hensleigh ,who now heads up our 517th PRCT Historical
Committee, and inform him of the latest information he received from Greg
Statler at Carlisle Barracks about the present and planned expansion for
the Army Heritage and Education Center. Greg's e-mail address is:
www.greg.statler@calisle.army.mil
Would you please forward Mike Kane's e-mail address
to Wayne as Mike will be an excellent contact with his knowledge and close
location to Carlisle Barracks.

Dear Sir,
I send here some pics about the operations of 517th in the area of Col de
Braus. The container for gun ammunitions has been found in Col de Bros (1985)
at the precise point shown in the map (red arrow). Probably used by
gunners of 460 th?
(the jerrycan is just on the picture to show the size).
The shortened coat wears the name of O' Brien O-9638
But I don't know if the owner was in 517th
The last picture show some relics found in Col de Braus and Plateau Segra.
With a metal detector is still possible to find many relics.
If any veteran or family come in the area of Nice I can be a very valuable
guide in the place of the fights, with explanations.
Fortunately, my knowledge of local history is better than my english.:)
Hope meet you again, next year.

I was in "B" Btry 460th Prcht FA Btn.
My uncle 1st Lt. John "Jack" E. Brearley was in E Co 2nd
Btn.
I am interested in contacting E Co. Capt. Bob Newberry.
On the back cover of a small booklet, "The Trail of The 517", showing
the divisions we were in, there is a divisional round shoulder patch, cut like a
pie in quarters with black and white quarters alternating. What division
was this?
