Dear Ben:  We were so sorry to read about the sudden death of Dorothy Gleisberg.  What a lost to you, the association and most importantly, her family.  Your description underscores what an inspiration she was.  She will be missed, but with the spirit she obviously had and the ideas she gave to you, she will continue to be with us. Thank you for sharing her first message on Mail Call. Now Alan and I will know and remember her impact on you and the association each time we read Mail Call.  Would you be so kind as to convey our sympathy to her daughter, Cathy?  Thank you very much.
Sincerely, Pat Seitz and Alan Greer

Ben, We are so sorry to hear about Dorothy. We met her 1st at the Mini-reunion in Kissimmee several years ago. We renewed our acquaintance at the Savannah reunion. She was a very lovely person. I also felt that she was very loyal to the troopers of the 517th.  We have lost a very good friend. Jesse & Lou Darden

Hi Ben,
What a shock to hear of the death of Dot. She and I had become good e-mail friends as she and Cathy had the mutual love of animals as I do. She told me all about the rescue of a little dog she and Cathy made on a visit I believe she said to her brother on the way home from the reunion. She rescued and paid for a little dog to have surgery for a kidney stone and they adopted it and brought it home to join two other little dogs and Cathy's new kitty that replaced her old kitty who died as a result of Diabetes.
Dot also was a big fan of the 517th and I know before I met them I saw her name on your letters so many times. They were wonderful people and poor Andrew went through a long illness around the time Leo did. Dot never mentioned any medical problems about herself and this is a total shock. It was Oct. 3rd I got a long letter from her. My heart goes out to Cathy and the rest of her family. I feel like I have lost a new friend.
Best wishes to all,             Joyce Turco

Dear Ben:

Here is a report on three troopers. I have been in touch with Bob Christie and Tom Cross. Bob has had a sixty page plus Thunderbolt at the printers, and for his part, ready to send out. The delay in printing and mailing is one of Bob’s frustrations. He hopes it is in your mail boxes soon. He has some lymph nodes in the lab for analysis and expects to hear soon. Have him in your prayers. Tom Cross has had a hernia repaired. He is now doing his usual thing and even getting out to walk the dog every day. I’m third guy. I have a shoe on my left foot, something some of you have never seen. The stubborn wound that had to be dressed every other day for a couple of years met up with a stubborn VA doctor who vowed she would cure the foot or die in the process. She did it and lived to tell about it.

Our airborne best to all, Howard Hensleigh
