* PS.... I have been meaning to clarify my dad's [Eugene C. Markle] status.... During WWII he started as a Private (as most did as the country ramped up for WWII). There is one picture that identifies him as a Lt. Colonel (which he was at the time) which was taken in Korea ~1953 that was from my memorial site for him. He retired from active service on 1 January 1965 as a Major.
