Ervin Daniel Schmidt was my uncle (Dad's brother) and was in 517th Company F. He was killed January 8, 1945, in Battle of the Bulge, leaving behind a very special wife, Mildred (Mil). She passed away in October, 2009 and was such a wonderful woman. I miss her dearly and her stories of how much she loved Erv. My Uncle John, my dad and I would love to find people who knew my Uncle Ervin. Thank you all for your service and I hope we can make sure that the many, many sacrifices that have been made are not ever forgotten.
