Dad,

You skipped some numbers  You went from MailCall 909 right to 1000 and 1001.
Also, I don't think I ever got a 905.

I received another email from Bob Dickson, son of Jack Dickson, A Company.  He included a copy of his dad's jump certificate issued in Italy, October 1944, just before he joined the 517.  It is posted on his page at:

This is  a unusual certificate issued at the Parachute School in Rome Italy. I was with the cadre for that school where American volunteers and the FFI were being qualified to be paratroopers. Some may remember Moon Mullins from Ft. Benning who was my commanding officer.--Ben

Comments: Hi, I am looking to contact men who might have served with my father John B. (Jack) Dickson. He was in the A-company and served with the 517th from Nov 1944 until his discharge. He was wounded on 25 Dec 44 near Soy. I also wished to contact his company commander Don Fraser. I have posted photographs of Jack Dickson on the website. Although my father has long passed on (1970), he was very proud of his service with the 517th. From a grateful nation, Thank you all for your service. Sincerely, Bob Dickson (585) 621-5851 rjdckson1@aol.com

Ben:  LTC Wyatt's e-mail expressed so eloquently my thoughts and feelings for those whom we salute this Memorial Day -- those who have given so much to make, preserve and defend our nation.  On this Memorial Day, thank you, LTC Wyatt for speaking so well for all of us who have the blessings we do today because of those sacrifices.  A special thank you to all members of the 517th PRCT.  God bless you, your families and the United States of America.

In regard to Walt Smith's email in your last Mail Call, there is a shuttle from the airport to the DeSoto Hilton. Gray Line runs a shuttle throughout the day from the airport to downtown Savannah.  When you get into Savannah airport, you can purchase a round-trip ticket from the airport to the DeSoto Hilton, and then on your departure date back to the airport for $25.00.  If you chose to just go one way, the price is $15.00.  The shuttle bus runs until 11:00 p.m.

There is also taxi service from the airport to the DeSoto Hilton.  It is $20.00 for the 1st person, and $5.00 for each additional person.

What I need to know from those that are flying, is their arrival date and time.  If several are coming in at relatively the same time, I can have a shuttle there for you and hopefully, at a cheaper rate.

If anyone has any questions, call Helen at (912) 925-2766.  See you in August!

Hello Ben,

We have finally finished moving and here is the new email address:  dlknee@comcast.net.  As I said in my previous email to you, I would like to have your address so we can donate something to you for the upkeep of the website and all the emails you send.  Thank you and have a great week-end.

We don't accept contributions for the website and Mail Call. It is a labor of love.

Ben  I don't see the name of the Medic,  I think from H company that died
on the way to the hospital  in Italy,  Is there a way to get a list of
the medics of the 517.  I had ran 6 miles to an aid station to get an
ambulance for this man and Jim Degnan.   Degnan survived.   But, I have
heard names like  Simpson, Hopkins, Simpkins, but don't  see anything
like that,  I did not know the man but did help carry him (then returned
for Jim  Degnan) down off the mountain in Italy,  This guy died on the
way to the hospital in the ambulance, ( I was able to ride to the
hospital (in the back of the ambulance) with him and Degnan. Tom  McAvoy
