My father was John S. Hopkins. He was a Corporal in the 517th. He was the company clerk for I believe B company during training. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, captured and taken to a POW Camp in Limburg, Germany. If I have my facts straight, the camp was liberated by Patton's 3rd Armor on my father's 89th day there. he was one of the soldiers awarded the 631 Bronze Star with V device. I traded a few emails with LTG Seitz many years ago. I served in the US Army and retired after 20 years as a Major. I have panoramic picture of the training class at Camp Toccoa; his photo announcing his MIA status. I also have the First Edition of the unit newspaper and the First Anniversary edition. I'd love to hear from anyone who knew or knows more about him. I will gladly trade information (what little I have). Thanks.
John L. Hopkins

My Father, Charles E. “Chuck” Wallace, was in 4th Platoon, G Company, 3rd Bn (deceased 2004); anyone with any knowledge of him please contact me; Im a retired US Army Colonel, MI, SF, Ranger…. I remember walking around in my Dad’s dark brown jump boots as a kid in the 1950’s. I met LTG Seitz in the reunion in VA in 2006. God bless all who ever wore silver jump wings!

I'm looking for information related to my father, John Dennis Flores, who served as a paratrooper in the 517th "E" company. His Army serial number is 18151979 and was a sergeant. He originally was stationed in Iceland as an electrician in the Ordnance Department but volunteered for the paratroopers. He was born in New Orleans, LA. I have seen on your website a John Raul D. Flores, but that is not my father although the handwriting on one picture matches his registration card signature. Any help would be appreciated.

My grandfather was Herbert Koehler of 2nd Bn, F Co. I believe he was in 3rd Platoon with Clifton Land. Mr. Land (I believe) mentions my grandfather as the friend who shared some creamed corn with him on his birthday during the Battle of the Bulge. Records indicate that my grandfather was wounded on 4 Jan 44 at Mont de Fosse. If Mr. Land or any of his relatives see this, I'd love to know more about him to know more about my grandfather's story.

My grandfather is LtCol Rupert Davidson Graves, USA(Ret). I am his proud granddaughter and I thank you for sharing this media. The Colonel is buried in Hendersonville NC next to his beloved Katherine. He was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and thus now resides in heaven with the advanced party of the 517th RCT that he so wholly loved. Thank you all!

My great grandfather was Cpl. Dwight L Spotswood of service company in the 517th. He served with the regiment from 1943-1945. I have several photos of him from what I believe to be operation dragoon as well as some from the action the regiment saw in Italy. I would love to upload these photos on the site but I haven't had any luck with the webmaster email. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would love to share his story and cement his legacy on this site.

Admin reply: I am currently traveling but with work with you to see if we can add your info to the website. We'll talk in October! - BB
