Name: Gerald W Allen From: jallen091941@gmail.com E-mail: jallen091941@gmail.com |
My uncle Alton Allen was KIA on 4 Nov 1944, 75 years ago today. As a child he was my idol and my boyhood dream was to follow in his footsteps as a Paratrooper. I lived my dream and joined the Army two weeks after I turned 17 and earned my Jump Wings in May 1959 at Ft Campbell Ky. I stayed in the Army from 10/28/58 - 6/30/80 Pvt E1 to Major. I served three tours in Vietnam and was awarded Two DFC's and Five BS's. I retired as a Master Parachutist, Ranger, Aviator and proud awardee of the Combat Infantry Badge. May your soul rest in peace Uncle Shorty. Airborne All The Way!

Name: SMSgt Howard C Aubrey USAF Ret From: Burlington, Kentucky E-mail: hcaubrey@twc.com |
It is with great sadness that I announce the death of a member of the 517th PRCT. My father-in-law, Jack J. Cason passed away at the age of 95 on August 22, 2019. He remained ever so proud of his service with the 517th and often kidded me (since I am a retired Air Force NCO) about how the Army Air Corps missed the drop zone. We will miss his stories, but know that some day we'll meet again. Rest in peace, Jack.

SGT Charles E. Wallace, G Company, 4th Platoon- he was my father, he passed away Jan 2004 in Nashville, TN. We were at the reunion in Nashville in the 80's. He was my inspiration for becoming a n airborne soldier in Special Forces. He talked about the Bulge, freezing weather, trenchfoot and German mines that failed to explode due to being frozen. Would like to contact other G Company connections. When is the next reunion?

My father, Lloyd "Hank" Henry was in Company D. He passed away May 19, 1984. I was honored to be with him when he attended the 1973 reunion in New Orleans. His buddies made me realize that this was the Greatest Generation. If anyone has any stories about Hank Henry, I would be most pleased to hear/read them. Regards, Lloyd Wayne Henry

My father, Earl Mangello, was a Private in E Company, 517th PRCT. He died in July, 1947. I am looking for any information on him and for anyone that may have known him. He was 5'6" and weighed 98 pounds when he was inducted. He was wounded in the leg while a member of the unit. I don't know if he was wounded in Italy, France or at the Bulge, or if he was separated from the unit due to his injury. He served from 3-23-43 to 9-1-45. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
