This is George R Monkhouses daughter I just stop by to say hello and God Bless you all.I come to the site almost every day,since finding the site ,it brings me closer to Dad I miss him so very much ,its been 31 years since his death now,and it doesnt get easier.He loved the Army and I believe a part of him died when he reired as a Capt.He was a lost soul.He went in at 16,and retired at 36God Bless you all til next time TU Carol Monkhouse

As with most soldiers, we heard very little if anything from him about the war. He passed away years ago, in 1984 and I don't know anyone now who can tell me. E-mail: rmckee3@cox.net 		My Father Robert Allen McKee served with the 517th. I was hoping to gain more information about him and the life he lived with the men of the 517th during world war II. My Father did not talk much about the war, but when he did the stories captivated my whole group of friends. I was hoping to get additional stories now that my Father has passed on.

E-mail: alvalliere@msn.com 		Looking for anyone who served with my Uncle Carroll Eckert - I believe he was one of 26 or 28 men in the "Shock Troop" - a paratrooper 517th G Company. I believe he parachuted into Southern France on August 15th and was wounded in battle on September 9th.

He died in 1980, 7 years before I was born so I never got to know him, and so I was looking to find anything I can. I'd like to know what he was like other than through his kids' eyes. My Grannie died a few years ago so I am not able to ask her. I don't want to sound lame or anything, but I would like to know as much as I can about my Grandpa Joe. If anyone knew him, I'd appreciate if you would help me know more about him. Thank you,

I am excited to share this page with him, as I know he will cherish every word and picture posted to the 517th webpage. His stories and memories are sharp and detailed but are now brought to life with numerous pictures and stories. Thank you all for your service to our country! E-mail: thequietman32@msn.com 		Does anyone remember my uncle Pvt. Frank Barringer? He was with the 517th from 11 Mar 43 until they went overseas. He became a replacement for the 179th Inf. Reg. 45th Infantry Division in Italy until his death in Toulon France 13 Apr 45. Also his brother Laurence Behringer served in the 17th Abn Division at the same time and was with the 411th Abn Quartermaster Co. from 25 Jul 42 to the end of the war.
