Hi.

My name is Lisa Lee. My father was a Sgt in the 517th Parachute Infantry. I remember my father telling stories of his time in the army but as a child I didnt want to hear war stories. Now with my father gone, I wished I had listened to those stories. I have been searching for any information I can get on my father during his time there. I have been unable to come up with any picture either. I have written the government and they did send me duplicates of all of his medals, but no pictures and no family members seem to have any. I miss my father terribly, his death going on 9 years. PLEASE if anyone can give me some information on him during this time or has any pictures with him in it, I would so greatly appreciate it.

JAMES THOMAS LEE
Hq Co 517th Parachute Infantry

Thank you so much.

Looking to contact Darrell Hickman he is a nephew of Wayne Jackson who served with the 517th. He has a picture with the following list of guys on it. My grandfather was Gerald W. Larson. Hoping one of the guys listed is around and may remember him. (W. Shaddox, Mervyn L Filippone, Gerald L. Larsen and James H. North.) An E.P. Johnson, is in the 1987 picture of Company C at the reunion

Picture is in photos - Wayne Jackson

I thank people for the emails regarding my recent submission. It is greatly appreciated!

My Grandfather Gerald W. Larson served for two years with the 517th. He was wounded on two ocasions, and passed away in 1995. He never talked about the war, service and his experiences. I know he fought with nightmares for many years as a close friend perished in his arms. I am deeply honored by all our veterans of the 517 who proudly served our country and thank you for our freedom. I am hoping someone can help me link the pieces or may remember him. He went by Jerry Larson from Minnesota! I can be reached at 218-736-5371.

I initially found this site a few years ago as I was researching my great-uncle Pvt. Robert A. Harp who was KIA in Belgium. Since then I have joined the Army myself as a 2LT in the Chaplain Candidate Program. What that means is that I am a reserve soldier while I complete my seminary degree. I leave next week for training at Ft. Jackson.

Even though I never met my great uncle, I now feel much more connected to his memory as I begin to serve my country in the U.S. Army. Again, thanks to all of you who continue to honor the living and the fallen among your ranks. HOOAH!
