I found this site today looking for anything that might tell me more about my grandfather's days with the 517th (E Company, I believe) He was a 2nd Lieutenant when he came home from the war. My grandfather, Dezso Greszler, passed away almost 1 week ago at the age of 91. I'm so proud of his military service and I'm seeking any information I might find about him. This site has been wonderfully healing for me.

All,
My uncle, Fred Troemel of Outlook,WA, was assigned to the 460th PFAB during WWII. I am hoping make contact with anyone from his unit.

He earned his jump wings under LTC James Anderson in Sep of 1943 at Ft Benning,GA. He made the jumps into Italy, France and Germany. He lived past the war 15 years. He has two surviving siblings, a widow and multiple decendants.

I am a Sergeant First Class(E7)on active duty with the U.S. Army. I'm stationed at Ft Knox, KY and served in Iraq Oct04 to Sep05. His great nephew, my son, is currently in Iraq with the Stryker Brigade out of Hawaii.

Any information would be welcomed and appreciatted. Thank you all for your service and sacrifice. AIRBORNE!

Very respectfully,

Ted S. Troemel
Sergeant First Class
U. S. Army

I can’t thank the men and women of WWII Enough. Ever since I attended the National WWII Memorial dedication in 2004, and met so many WWII veterans, I have been collecting stories from WWII veterans. During this time I have also made a video in honor of all who served during WWII. The video showcases different WWII Museums and Memorials and is set to some big band and WWII era songs.

I have been interviewing and collecting stories from WWII veterans for over four years now and I am still honored to hear such history from such great men and women. If you have a story or some history you would like to share please contact me anytime. From one paragraph to several pages, anything you have remembered is a historical treasure. I wish you all the best life has to offer, and Thank You.

My dad Mike Sura was a PFC in the 517th, 3rd Battalion, Company H, 3rd Platoon, squad leader of 2nd squad. He serviced with Sgt. Fred Harmon, George Monkhouse, Manfred Seeberger, Dick Huggler and many other troopers I forgot. I always wanted to know more about Seeberger. Dick Huggler is still alive and lives in Alpina, MI.

Please feel free to contact me if you know or want to tell old stories of Company H. Dad told me a lot about the war on our many fishing trips.

My dad was a member of the 517th(SSG Garn Whatcott). I am looking for his combat patch so I can update his uniform. When completed it will hang in the Legion building in a glass case, to honor his service.

I love this site! Absolutely, the best place for all things 517th. I am a reenactor/living historian. The unit I am in charge of,has decided that our permanent unit impression, will be that of F Company, 2d Battalion, 517th PRCT.

We would all like to join the association, as friends. We would also like to know, if there are any Vets in The MD, VA, southern PA area, that could serve as an advisor to the unit?

This would be an amazing chance for us to have a one-on-one relationship with a 517th Vet, and get the strait scoop!

My father, Carl Votti, left us in 1999 for that great army in heaven. I miss him so very much. I am hoping to attend the reunion in St. Louis to pay my respects to his commrades and their families. I remember attending the 20th reunion with my father in Fort Bragg, NC. This was back in 1964. I was only 8 years old, but it made a life-long impression. May God bless and keep you all, here, over, and "up" there.
