Just thought I would pass along that my father John P. Anderson passed away Monday March 8, 2010. He served in the 2nd Battalion, F company, 2nd platoon.
He had a great life and will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Have never been able to talk to anyone who actually knew my Dad, Ben Combest during the war. He was in G company. I would love to hear from you if you knew and remember him.

My condolences to the Barrett family. On the news this morning they were talking about a man losing his $53 million down on a Villa Leopolda, a 20-acre (8 hectare) estate with views of the bay at Villefranche and the Mediterranean Sea, fetched a world record price for a home, the Nice-Matin newspaper said when it reported the agreement in 2008. Residences in the French Riviera, chiefly at Cap Ferrat and Monaco, vie with London as the most expensive in the world, according to adviser Knight Frank LLP. So was this the same one that all of the photos I've seen of guys in the 460th been in, please help. Jim

Admin reply: Yes, it was the same villa. See http://www.517prct.org/mailcall/1974.htm

Our condolences to the Barrett family. My husband & I had the pleasure of visiting with Ben on a few occasions at his home in Cohasset. We had the opportunity to hear first hand his amazing stories regarding the 517th. Without Ben's assistance, and the contacts that were made through the 517th website, I was able to reach out to people who knew my Uncle from the 596th. For that I am truly grateful.

Sincerely,

Mark & Jolene Devaney

My Uncle was Stephen R. Stepek, came out of the service as a cpl, Co. C 517th pir. I'm sending for his military records. He enlisted Sep 3, 1943. Honorable discharge Oct 13, 1945. Not sure when he joined the 517th, yet. His purple heart says he was wounded Jan 16th, 1945. I know he was with the 517th at that time as a pfc. I believe he served under Lt Marks. I'd love to hear from anyone that knew him or heard of my uncle.

Milt Kienlen was my uncle and I came across your bio on him while 'net surfing, which I shared with my family. Never having met my uncle, it was a great read, and very informative. /Alex

I was told that a group of men of Headquarters Company recieved the Bronz Star after the unit was disbanded. I was told that my dad was one of them. I am trying to find out for sure and who I respond to to get a copy of the orders.
