Hi Folks, To introduce myself, I am a 22 year Air Force Vet. My father was in the 517th during WWII and I know very little about his service. He was in 3rd Bat, I company. He was wounded during his service and came home kinda messed up. He left our family when I was very young and I do not know very much about him or his service. I am a career military man so I would like to know what his service record was. He was killed in a plane crash in Torrington, WY in 1950. If anyone is interested the American Legion took care of his last rites and treated him with the respect that he desereved. If anyone happens to be in the area please stop by and thank them for all vets. To get back to what this message is about, I would like to find out if any 517th vets remember my dad. I would like to know anything that you could tell me. I am trying to put together a display of my military stuff but I want a double display with my dad's stuff first and mine at the bottom. If anyone could give me any infor please let me know. Jerry King Son of David A. King "I" company, 3rd Platoon, 517 PIR. My email cowpuncher@bellsouth.net

Dear Friends, It's been a real Honor to join you with our 3rd ID Color Guard during Ceremonies in Draguignan, Such a memorable day & also for the Parade in Le Muy. Perhaps do you remember me as I gave you our Newsletter " Watch on the Rhine " ? I enjoyed talking with Al Johnson & others from your group. I've got some more pictures from the Parade but need an email address to send them? Lest we forget. Chris

I was so excited to find this web page. My father Teddy P. Pierce passed away on Sunday morning the 4th of October. My father served in 517th PRCT during the war. I don't know a whole lot about his service in Europe except that it has always been a source of great pride to be the son of such a brave man. Thank you to all those that served with him.

My Grandfather,Fred T. Beyer was with the 517th. He was wounded in Italy, and then lost his Right arm in the Battle of the Bulge. Like most vetrans, he doesn't like to talk about it. But I must say that if the 18-20 year olds of our day, could be like those of their day. The world would be a whole lot better.

I have recently entered two inquiries about my Uncle Raymond F. Thompson. The Raymond F. Thompson that was in the 517th, 3rd Btn., H Company,I have found out, is not my uncle. However, in reading some other entries, I was able to help someone find out under what circumstances his best friend as a boy died. So my research on my Uncle Ray, that led me, incorrectly, to the 517th, was not in vain.

In the Company H group picture taken at Camp Toccoa, does anyone know the identity of the Soldiers on the back row, 7th from the left and 17th from the left? I believe that either one may be my Uncle, Pvt. Raymond F. Thompson, who died in France in Sept. 1944.

My father Marvin R. Oliver died 10/13/44 of wounds he received on patrol somewhere near Sospel, France. He served in Company A of the 517th. While he was anticipating my birth and I was told had carved my name on the b*** stock of his rife, never knew of my birth on 10/11/44 two days before his death. Any infomation, pictures, or knowledge of him would be greatly treasured by myself, my 5 children, and my 7 grandchildren. It would help keep his memory and that of his galant comrades alive for many more years. We should NEVER allow the world to forget the gift of freedom we were given by these young men!
